Beal Botanical Garden is excited to announce our inaugural Student Art Contest! We are looking for an art piece that speaks to our philosophy People, Plants, and Place that will be displayed in the garden throughout the summer and fall of 2024. The contest is open to any currently enrolled MSU undergraduate or graduate student. The garden is awarding one $500 prize for the selected piece.

The Beal Botanical Garden is hiring students for several Beal Scholar positions in summer 2024! These paid internship positions are a mentored experience to help students gain professional experience in botanical garden operations and maintenance. Open to students from any discipline, these are unique experiences that allow individuals to explore their interests while furthering the garden's mission.
In 2023, Beal Botanical Garden achieved a milestone - our sesquicentennial year. We commemorated our first 150 years with a multitude of programs, tours, and events, culminating in the Anniversary Festival on September 13, 2023. Thank you to all who celebrated with us! Your gift gives undergraduate students the opportunity to explore their interests and gain real world experience through the Beal Scholars internship program. Coming from diverse majors, these scholars design an interdisciplinary project which contributes to the garden’s mission and enhances their professional portfolio. Because sustainability is at the heart of the Beal Botanical Garden’s mission, scholars gain valuable experience in applying sustainability principles through the lens of their discipline. With your help, the Beal Scholars program can continue to transform the lives of our students.
Land Acknowledgment
We collectively acknowledge that Michigan State University occupies the ancestral, traditional, and contemporary Lands of the Anishinaabeg —Three Fires Confederacy of Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi peoples. In particular, the University resides on Land ceded in the 1819 Treaty of Saginaw.
